H/W Translation and Act 2 Scene 3 summary

Translation:

Quote:

But come, young waverer, come, go with me,

In one respect I’ll thy assistant be,

For this alliance may so happy prove

To turn your households’ rancor to pure love.

My Translation:
But come young man,come with me, I will help you with your wedding, for this wedding might bring the peace between the two families.
Quote:
Within the infant rind of this small flower
Poison hath residence and medicine power:
For this, being smelt, with that part cheers each part;
Being tasted, slays all senses with the heart.
Two such opposed kings encamp them still
In man as well as herbs, grace and rude will;
And where the worser is predominant,
Full soon the canker death eats up that plant.
My translation:
Inside this rind of flower there is both poison and powerful medicine when you smell it it makes you feel good but you taste and you die and when evil is in the flower you become evil too.

(to his PAGE) Fetch me my rapier, boy.—
What, dares the slave
Come hither, covered with an antic face,
To fleer and scorn at our solemnity?
Now, by the stock and honor of my kin,
To strike him dead I hold it not a sin.

H/W Romeo and Juliet Act 1 Scene 4 Explain Shakespeare’s use of Metaphor

Point

William Shakespeare uses metaphor to create a better understanding of his script or play, so the comparison of an action to his play would make understand more of what is not just happening with the character but also, to create an atmosphere of whats is happening around the character/s (Setting).

Example

Act 1 Scene 4 Mercutio talks rough about about love to Romeo

“If love be rough with you, be rough with love.
Prick love for pricking, and you beat love down.—
Give me a case to put my visage in!
A visor for a visor.—What care I
What curious eye doth cote deformities?
Here are the beetle brows shall blush for me.”
Modern Translation from NO FEAR SHAKESPEARE
“If love plays rough with you, play rough with LOVE
-Mercutio suggests that- Romeo cure himself of love by having sex.
love. If you prick love when it pricks you, you’ll beat love down.
Give me a mask to put my face in. A mask to put over my other mask.
What do I care if some curious person sees my flaws?
Let this mask, with its black eyebrows, blush for me. (they put on masks)”
Explanation
The metaphor “Give me a case to put my visage in!” this mini quotation suggest that Romeo’s feelings, mood and his own atmosphere;
His feelings right now would be sad, lonely and love needing.
 His mood would be depressed.
His atmosphere would be dark ,silent  and hollow
Extension Component
There is load of quotations in the script to prove my point of Romeo being depressed because of love such as
“BENVOLIO
Tut man, one fire burns out another’s burning.
One pain is lessened by another’s anguish.
Turn giddy, and be helped by backward turning.
One desperate grief cures with another’s languish.
Take thou some new infection to thy eye,
And the rank poison of the old will die.”
This quotation is from Act 1 Scene 2  this little paragraph shows Romeo’s emotions to what love has led him to.
