Act 1 Scene 1

Setting: A street in Verona

Time: Sunday morning

Characters: Montague, Lady Montague, Benvolio and Romeo.

Event: Montague and Lady Montague are worried about their son Romeo’s depression. They ask Benvolio to investigate what is happenings with their son. Also in another street in Verona two Capulet servants are talking about Montagues.Then some young Montague servants show up. Sampson and Gregory just can’t stand a fight and decide to fight the Capulets—but the Prince of Verona has laid out strict laws against starting fights.

Here were the servants of your adversary,
And yours, close fighting ere I did approach.
I drew to part them. In the instant came
The fiery Tybalt, with his sword prepared,
Which, as he breathed defiance to my ears,u
He swung about his head and cut the winds,
Who, nothing hurt withal, hissed him in scorn.
While we were interchanging thrusts and blows,
Came more and more and fought on part and part,
Till the Prince came, who parted either part.

 

Act 1 Scene 2

Setting: A street in Verona

Time: Sunday midday

Characters: Capulet, County Paris, the clown and Capulet’s servants.

Event:Paris starts the scene by asking Capulet to marry his daughter.Capulet says she will choose soon but at the moment she in too young,what you can do is come to the party and try to move to her.The servant got given a list of the guests for the party but he couldn’t read so he asks a two men in the streets.(The coincidence is that the two men where Romeo and Benvolio, so from then on Romeo knew that Roselin was going to be there since it was a Capulet party.

Act 1 Scene 3

Setting:At Capulet house.

Time:Sunday Evening

Event:At the Capulet house, Juliet’s mother, Lady Capulet, comes in to tell her daughter about Paris’s proposal.But Juliet’s nurse (who just gets called “Nurse” through the whole thing) first delivers a long, semi-bawdy speech about Juliet’s infancy and toddler years.Her rambling, tangent of a speech reveals the following information: the Nurse had a baby named Susan who was about Juliet’s age but, sadly, she died. The Nurse is not only Juliet’s nanny but she also her wet-nurse. When it was time to “wean” (stop breastfeeding) Juliet, the Nurse put “wormwood” on her breast. (Wormwood is a disgustingly bitter plant extract.)

Act 1 Scene 4

Setting:Sunaday Evening

Characters: Romeo, Benvolio, and Mercutio.

It is the night of the mascarde.Mercutio encourages Romeo to dance. Also his friends try to cheer him up but it does not work because he was so depressed that he thinks that love is bad .His emotions made him feel negative about himself.

Quotation:A torch for me.Let wontons light of hearth.Tickle the senseless rushes with their heels.For I am proverbed with brandished phrase, I will be a candle holder, and look on.The game was never so fair and I am done.

Act 2 Scene 1

Setting:Capulets Orchard

 

Time: Sunday Evening

Event:Romeo climbs over the Capulets orchard wall and tries to find Juliet.

 

Quote: Can I go forward when my hearth is here? Turn back , dull earth, and find thy centre out.

Act 2 Scene 2

Setting: Capulets Orchard

Time: very late Sunday night

characters:  Romeo and Juliet

Event: This is the famous part of the play where Juliet says O Romeo O romeo.To Romeo finds Juliet and they have fun all night.

Quote: Shall I hear no more, or shall I speak at this?.

Act 3 Scene 2

setting: Capulets house

Time:Monaday afternoon

Event: Juliet finds out that Romeo was vanished from the land for killing Tybalt.

Act 3 Scene 3

Character: Romeo Friar Lawrence and nurse.

Event: In this scene what happens is that Romeo is getting prepared before he goess because he is vanished.

Act 3 Scene 4

Setting: Capulet house

Time: Monday night

Event:Capulet, Lady Capulet, and Paris walk together. Capulet says that because of the terrible recent events, he has had no time to ask his daughter about her feelings for Paris. Lady Capulet states that she will know her daughter’s thoughts by the morning. Paris is about to leave when Capulet calls him back and makes what he calls “a desperate tender of my child’s love”

Tonight she is mewed up to her heaviness.

Act 3 Scene 5

Setting:At Capulet Orchard

Time: Early Tuesday morning

Characters:Nurse, Romeo and Juliet

Event:Romeo has that fun night with Juliet and now he has to go forever he give Juliet one last kiss and goes.

Quote:ROMEO

Farewell, farewell. One kiss, and I’ll descend.

 

 

 

Act 5 Scene 3 Summary

Time: Wednesday Evening

Setting: Churchyard belonging to Capulet’s

Characters: Paris; Page; Romeo; Balthasar; Friar Lawrence; Juliet; Page; First Watchman; Second Watchman; Third Watchman; Prince Escalus; Attendants; Montague.

Event: In this scene everything happened Paris starts to scatter flowers because of Juliet’s death Romeo arrives to take the ring of Juliet. Paris and Romeo fight, Romeo wins because he did not care if he died in the moment his love was dead. Romeo takes Paris body and puts it near Juliet then Romeo does what he decides to do and that is join Juliet for eterninty. He kisses Juliet, drinks the poison, kisses Juliet again, and dies. Just then, Friar Lawrence enters the churchyard. He finds Balthasar, who tells him that Romeo is in the tomb. Balthasar says that he fell asleep and dreamed that Romeo fought with and killed someone. The friar enters the tomb, where he finds Paris’s body and then Romeo’s. As the friar sees the horrific tomb Juliet wakes. Friar talks to Balthasar while Juliet wakes up then sees Romeo dead and decides to take some of the poison he took by kissing him, it did not work so she finds the dagger and says “O happy dagger, This is thy sheath,” After the Prince finds out about this and blames the two families for this misfortune. The Capulet’s and Montague’s says we are sorry and come back as one family again.Prologue says “A pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life;

Whose misadventured piteous overthrows
Do with their death bury their parents’ strife.
The fearful passage of their death-mark’d love,
And the continuance of their parents’ rage,
Which, but their children’s end, nought could remove,
Is now the two hours’ traffic of our stage;
The which if you with patient ears attend,
What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend” This means only with the death of them lover s from each family shall the family be one again.

Quote:Oh, noise? Then I’ll be quick. Oh, good, a knife!
My body will be your sheath.
Rust inside my body and let me die.

Act 5 scene 2 summary

Events: This scene is about two priest talking about Romeo

Quote: FRIAR LAWRENCE
Now must I to the monument alone.
Within this three hours will fair Juliet wake.
She will beshrew me much that Romeo
Hath had no notice of these accidents.
But I will write again to Mantua,
And keep her at my cell till Romeo come.

Act 5 scene 1 summary

Event:Balthasar  tells Romeo that Juliet has died.Romeo tells Apothecary that sell him poison illegally.

(gives ROMEO poison) Put this in any liquid thing you will
And drink it off; and, if you had the strength
Of twenty men, it would dispatch you straight.

ROMEO
Come hither, man. I see that thou art poor.

Act 4 scene 3                                                                                                                                   Quotation:JULIET
Farewell!—God knows when we shall meet again.
I have a faint cold fear thrills through my veins
That almost freezes up the heat of life.
I’ll call them back again to comfort me.—
Nurse!—What should she do here?

Translation:JULIET
Good-bye. Only God knows when we’ll meet again. There is a slight cold fear cutting through my veins. It almost freezes the heat of life. I’ll call them back here to comfort me. Nurse!—Oh, what good would she do here?
In my desperate situation, I have to act alone.

Explanation:

This quote sums the scene because the scene is about Juliet drinking the vial and this small quote says that ” I have a faint  cold fear thrills through my veins” It tells me that there is a cold feeling in her veins; so when there is a cold feeling in someon it is because they are feeling ill,it kind of gives a hint to the nurse that she is not feeling well but, wha she actually means is that I will die soon.

Act 4 scene 4

Quotation:Go waken Juliet. Go and trim her up.
I’ll go and chat with Paris. Hie, make haste,
Make haste. The bridegroom he is come already.
Make haste, I say.

Translation:

Go wake Juliet. Go and get her dressed. I’ll go and chat with Paris. Hey, hurry up, hurry up! The bridegroom is already here. Hurry up, I say.

Explanation:

This sums the scene because the scene is about late preparation for the wedding and this quote says get the bride ready while I go talk to groom.

Act 4 scene 5

Quotation:

CAPULET

Ha? Let me see her. Out, alas! She’s cold.
Her blood is settled, and her joints are stiff.
Life and these lips have long been separated.
Death lies on her like an untimely frost
Upon the sweetest flower of all the field.

Translation:

CAPULET
No! Let me see her. Oh no! She’s cold. Her blood has stopped, and her joints are stiff. She’s been dead for some time. She’s dead, like a beautiful flower, killed by an unseasonable frost.

Explanation:

This quote sums the scene because this scene is about his family finding out she is dead and clearly it shows that Capulet finds out that her daughter is dead by saying her joints are stiff and she is cold.

Act 4 Scene 2                                                                                                                                      Time: Tuesday Afternoon                                                                                                                 Characters: Lady Capulet, Juliet, Servingman and Nurse.                                                             Events: Juliet comes back from Friar Lawrence and pretends that she wants to marry Paris.Capulet is so happy that he moves the marriage day a day earlier.                                       Quotation:I went somewhere where I learned that being disobedient to my father is a sin. Holy Father Lawrence instructed me to fall on my knees and beg your forgiveness. (she kneels down) Forgive me, I beg you. From now on I’ll do whatever you say.

Act 1 scene 3

In this scene Lady Capulet tell Juliet that her marriage will happen soon and that it is being arranged. Also Paris will be at the party so you can decide if you want to be with romeo.

Act 2 scene 1

This scene is about Romeo is so much love hat he climbs the capulets orchard and looks for Juliet.

Act 2 scene 2

Well this is the famous speech where it says “O Romeo o Romeo” Juliet stands at the balcony and she expresses her feelings about Romeo while Romeo is standing right below the balcony listening to her speak about him until he joins the coversation.

Act 3 scene 2

At this scene Juliet waits impatiently in the night to celebrate with Romeo their marriage until the nurse, breaks the news to juliet saying that Romeo was banished from the land.

Act 3 scene 3

In this scene Friar Lawrence tells Romeo that he is banished instead having death.Romeo gets drunk with tears because he will leave his true love.

Act 3 scene 4

Late monday night Capulet and Paris discuss about Juliet’s grief over Tybalts death and that Paris will marry Juliet next thursday.

Act 3 scene 5

At dawn on tuesday morning Romeo and Juliet are saying goodbye after the Prince decision of Romeo being banished instead of death.

Act 4 Scene 1

Time: Tuesday morning.

Characters: Friar Lawrence, Juliet and Paris.

Event: In this scene Paris tells Friar that he will be marrying Juliet on thursday. Soon after Juliet comes to say it is impossible for her to be married twice and also knowing that she only has 1 true love, she says maybe the only answer is death.The Friar comes up with a solution, it was for her to take a potion that will make fall in deep sleep and everyone will think you are dead (no pulse or hearth beat) but me and Romeo. Later in the night we wil take out of your tomb and you can escape freely with Romeo.That is the solution and Juliet accepts it.
