H/W Translation and Act 2 Scene 3 summary

Translation:

Quote:

But come, young waverer, come, go with me,

In one respect I’ll thy assistant be,

For this alliance may so happy prove

To turn your households’ rancor to pure love.

My Translation:
But come young man,come with me, I will help you with your wedding, for this wedding might bring the peace between the two families.
Quote:
Within the infant rind of this small flower
Poison hath residence and medicine power:
For this, being smelt, with that part cheers each part;
Being tasted, slays all senses with the heart.
Two such opposed kings encamp them still
In man as well as herbs, grace and rude will;
And where the worser is predominant,
Full soon the canker death eats up that plant.
My translation:
Inside this rind of flower there is both poison and powerful medicine when you smell it it makes you feel good but you taste and you die and when evil is in the flower you become evil too.

Thy love did read by rote, that could not spell.

For this alliance may so happy prove
To turn your households’ rancor to pure love.

  1. This is good work, Eric. I think in the second paragraph there is also evidence of Friar Lawrence talking about how good and evil also resides in men, humans. I take this from when he says “In men as well as herbs, grace and rude will”.

    Nice work getting your homework done.
